New name, new district!

Why we need to get rid of "9 Dystricts"

Hello dear readers and Shoot ’Em Up Connoisseurs!

Some time has passed since the last devlog and now it's time for an important announcement. We are in the process of finding a new name for this game.

The idea behind 9 Dystricts was that it mixes "districts" and "dystopia" and also puts us on top of store and exhibitor lists, because 9 is high up in the alphabet of course.

For SEO reasons it was not a good idea at all though. People could think it's a typo or if they write it in the correct way, search engines would correct their text: "Did you mean ..."

We brainstormed for a long time and put ideas into our Miro board, which looks like this:

I also started a poll on Twitter and Mastodon to get opinions from other people. Of course you can also write your own suggestions in the comments. Someone did and we are really considering that one. So far we haven't found a more suitable name.

In the next devlog we will have a final decision.

Finally District 4 arrived

It took a while, because I really wanted it to look much different than previous districts, but now it is here and I'm happy with the result.

Here is how it looks like in Blender. I started with a similar colour scheme as district 3 but advanced it to a much more blue-ish tone, resembling an 80s style cyberpunk look:

You can still help us decide for a new name if you'd like to, there is time until July 15th.

Also, if you haven't already, please wishlist the game on Steam:

Thank you for your time. See you next month!
